A whole New World: Antler copper mine restart even more likely following ‘exceptional’ results, expanded deposit
New World Resources says drilling at its Antler copper deposit in Arizona, has delivered ‘exceptional’ results (reports Stockhead).
21st April 2022
Four holes were drilled as part of an ongoing resource-extension drilling program targeting the depth extensions of the Main Shoot. One of these four holes intersected 41.8m at 2.5% copper, 2.8% zinc, 0.8% lead, 37.1 g/t silver and 0.52 g/t gold from 875.9m (41.8 metres at 3.8% Cu-equivalent).
Another one of these four holes intersected 10.2 metres at the very high-grade of 6.2% Cu-equivalent. Notably, the mineralisation in this hole is more than 800m down-plunge from the outcropping mineralisation at surface; and more than 70m down-plunge from the company’s previous deepest intersection in the Main Shoot.
It’s also more than 150m down-dip from the deepest hole included in the maiden JORC Resource in November 2021 – expanding the resource base at the Project.
“The Antler Copper Deposit just keeps delivering exceptional results!” An excited New World Resources (ASX:NWC) MD Mike Haynes told Stockhead.
“On a grade-thickness basis, the intercept of 41.8 metres at 3.8% Cu-equivalent returned from ANT77W3 is our best individual drill result at Antler to date – and it comes from the fourth deepest hole that we’ve drilled to date.
“That was followed-up with another 10.2 metres of very high-grade mineralisation, namely 6.2% copper-equivalent, in the deepest drill hole we have completed to date.
“This intersection is more than 150 metres deeper than the deepest drilling incorporated in our November 2021 JORC Resource estimate – so we clearly continue to expand the Resource base as we drill deeper and deeper.
“And, pleasingly, grades continue to be very high.”
“The exceptional grades and thicknesses of the new mineralisation we continue to discover reaffirms why we are striving to bring Antler back into production as soon as practicable,” Haynes said.
“And while we do so, we will continue to explore to make the deposit bigger – as there is clearly substantial, untested potential.”
Three rigs continue to drill at Antler to further expand the mineral resource, with assays pending for 11 completed exploration holes.
