Hot off a successful extensional drilling program at its mainstay Bruno-Lewis deposit, Kin Mining switched its focus to resource drilling at the new Cardinia Hill deposit, and the first mix of RC and diamond results suggests an increase in resources is on the cards (reports MiningNews).

Among standout assays were 8m at 14.9 grams per tonne from 194m in the sulphide zone, and 13m at 5.98gpt from 38m in the oxide zone.

Managing director Andrew Munckton said the results from the first 1560m of 8300m drilled had exceeded expectations, and could help unlock large discoveries along the Cardinia eastern corridor.

The Cardinia gold project, near Leonora in Western Australia, contains a 1.15 million ounce resource.

The junior is drilling out January 2020's Cardinia Hill discovery, which is located just 2km from the proposed processing plant site.

Kin said its drilling had confirmed its understanding of the geology of the deposit, while proving the continuity of the southern shoot along the Cardinia Hill Fault, extending the shallow and deeper high-grade mineralisation along strike and at depth to 200m.

Cardinia Hill has a small resource of 1.2 million tonnes grading 1.66 grams per tonne for 61,000oz.

Kin said there was now a potential mining scenario to be examined at Cardinia Hill.

The explorer is now completing an aircore program over the Eagle soil geochemical anomaly located on the western side of project, while the RC rig is testing seven Cardinia Hill-style targets along the eastern corridor that were defined in last year's gravity survey.

It aims to complete 32,500m of drilling this half.

The company recently raised A$12.8 million at 13c, but was seeking up to $15 million.

Kin expects to spend $10 million on exploration over 2021.
