De Grey Mining has reported further good news from the exciting new Hemi gold prospect in Western Australia’s Pilbara region, with first RC drilling giving strong geological encouragement and a diamond core rig set to arrive on site later this week (reports MiningNews).
The RC drilling that intersected "large sulphide zones on Section B have the potential to significantly increase Hemi's scale", De Grey said.
"Most importantly, the host rock is a similar medium grained intrusion, not a shear zone as previously interpreted in the shallower and more oxidised aircore drilling above.
"The relationship of the known shallow gold mineralisation to the extensive sulphide alteration and the genetic link to the host intrusion is significant as the three interpreted large intrusions at Hemi show elevated gold in every aircore hole within the intrusions."
Assays are awaited.
The two zones where significant shallow gold and promising underlying sulphide alteration have been found are 640m apart.
Aircore drilling is also continuing with "encouraging alteration evident in a number of new step-out holes".
